Looking at moving to New Zealand? Or just investing? Any kind of presence in New Zealand could give rise to tax issues, so it is essential to get the best advice.

FIRST STEP

The first step is to have a free 5-10 minute no-obligation telephone chat with Angela to discuss your situation and work out the best way forward.

SECOND STEP

The second step is often to have an Advisory Meeting.  This meeting goes for approximately 1 hour and Angela answers your residency AND/OR property investment questions during this time. The fee for the Advisory Meeting is $350 (NZD).

  • Our domestic tax residency rules, and how they could apply to you.
  • Relevant Treaties, and opportunities for tax relief.
  • The Transitional Resident Exemption, what it covers and your eligibility.
  • The impact of your investment on your tax residency status.
  • Common issues with offshore investments.
  • What to watch out for going forward.
  • Questions you may have about your unique situation.


For an initial property investment call, topics will often include:


  • The basics of rental properties, rental profit and loss versus cashflow.
  • What is the right ownership structure for your rental properties? 
  • What is a restructure? What are the costs and benefits? Is it worthwhile? A restructure is generally how we sell a property from one entity to another to ensure that you have the maximum interest deductions.
  • How trading properties works. 
  • What is tainting? 
  • GST implications.
  • Property development – What are the options, what are the tax and GST implications on each option?



Meetings will usually be via online meeting software.

THIRD STEP

If you need it, Angela can prepare a detailed Report analysing your specific situation, assets, and investments. The Report will include written tax recommendations and advice.


The Report can also include a detailed plan for either transferring your assets to New Zealand in the most tax-efficient manner or for keeping them offshore.


Fees will be quoted based on scope of work required.
